Specialisation : Theoretical/Computational Chemistry and the Applied Catalysis
The Li’s group is seeking for a highly motivated research fellow to conduct research on graphene quantum dots (GQD) using theoretical and computational tools. Currently, the work has been focused on the engineering of GQD for various catalysis applications, such as electrochemical catalysis, photocatalysis etc. The successful candidate will be involved in the modelling and simulation of GQD, which include but not limited to: Compute the energy level of HOMO/LUMO and Es, Et of GQD, in both zigzag and armchair configurations Research and predict the free energy level of electrochemical reactions, such as HER, ORR, OER, and CO2ER, on the surface of clean GQD and functionalized GQD Study and investigate the possible reaction mechanisms and product evolution on GQD and find out the reaction selectivity Explore, simulate, and predict the band structures and photophysical characteristics of GQD and functionalized GQD
- PhD degree in materials science or chemistry.
- At least 4 years experience in operating computational softwares, such as VASP, Gaussian et al., is preferred; experience in modelling GQD and computing its optical and electronic properties will be a competitive advantage
- Strong background in the mechanisms of HER, ORR, OER and CO2ER reactions
- Strong background in computational chemistry and the applied catalysis
- Participate in collaborative projects and work in teams
