Senior Assistant Director Instructional Design Jobs Vacancy in Home Team Academy Singapore Jobs Details:


The incumbent is responsible for driving the instructional design capabilities in the Home team so as to facilitate the effective and efficient transfer of knowledge and skills to Home Team officers.

Reporting Structure

The incumbent will report to Deputy Director (Training Systems Branch), Joint Training Centre, Home Team Academy.

Key Deliverables

  • Enhance the rigour of Home Team training content and materials. The incumbent is expected to:
  • work with the Home Team Departments (HTDs) to implement standardised lesson plan blueprints with clear adoption of instructional design principles and techniques in Home Team courses. This will enhance course participants’ learning experience, thereby leading to better retention and application of knowledge and skills at the workplace;
  • assess effectiveness of existing training and identify areas for improvement that will lead to better alignment of assessment strategies and learning activities with learning outcomes; and
  • keep abreast of latest knowledge and practices on instructional design models and learning theories, and recommend contemporary instructional design practices for the Home Team.
  • 2 Foster E-learning in the Home Team. The incumbent is expected to:

  • work with HTDs to identify suitable curricula to be converted to e-learning coursewares so that HTDs can reduce face-to-face classroom time and invest in more value-added training and learning activities for enhanced learning effectiveness; and
  • work with Home Team trainers to adopt suitable andragogy tools to deliver training and learning interventions that are aligned to Home Team’s needs.
  • 3 Develop collaborative partnerships not only with HTDs, but also with relevant public service agencies, training academics and institutes of higher learning (e.g. local and overseas universities and polytechnics). The incumbent is expected to maintain a network of instructional design practitioners to leverage best practices and the latest methodologies in the training and learning sector.

    4 Collaborate with HTDs’ curriculum development officers, trainers, instructional technologists and multimedia team in designing learning and e-learning experiences.

    Eligibility Criteria

    The incumbent should be au fait with instructional design principles and methodologies, as well as the training methods and concept of operations of the HTDs. These traits will enable him to guide the HTDs in identifying appropriate instructional design methods to develop their training content and training methods.

    Other eligibility criteria are:

  • Education Qualification:
  • recognised university degree and at least WSQ Diploma in Adult Continuing Education (WSQ DACE) qualifications; or
  • recognised Master of Arts in Instructional Design and Technology.
  • Relevant Experience:
  • minimum 5-8 years of relevant working experience in instructional design;
  • excellent knowledge of learning theories and instruction design models;
  • good curriculum and lesson review and planning skills;
  • basic knowledge of HTML programming and FLASH;
  • ability to write effectively and concisely; and
  • good knowledge of the training and learning methodologies and approaches used across the Home Team would be an added advantage.

  • keen interest to learn, pilot and adopt new learning and development approaches
